About
Jessica’s musical career started in the gospel-scene. During her studies at Utrecht Conservatory - from which she graduated in 2019 with honors - she fell in love with the rich harmonies and freedom of jazz. The wish to compose and perform with her own music began to grow, and she started her project ‘Jessica de Boer Quintet’. Her music can be described as subtle jazz with a hint of world music. The lyrics are philosophical and the songs colorful, brought to the listener with a warm and clear voice.
Sources of inspiration are Esperanza Spalding, Somi and Zara McFarlane. But even more important are her inspirations from life: nature, people, sounds and faith. Jessica’s interests have always been broad, but she has found a way to incorporate this into her compositions. Driven by a longing to create and communicate beauty and light, she is not afraid to tell her story.
Jessica's musical career has led her to perform at a variety of places, including North Sea Jazz Festival and Middelheim Jazz (with Matthew Hertbert Brexit Bigband Choir), Easter Jazz Nijmegen and Tivoli de Helling.

"It has been a pleasure working with Jessica de Boer, a very talented young lady who writes crafty and intelligent songs.
Seeing her growth in the 4 years of her studies makes me excited and curious to follow her further progress.
I think Jessica is a great new addition to the musical landscape in the Netherlands: original, involved with the world we live in, big hearted with great craftsmanship and a singing talent to match."
